Geospatial Java Displays
Dot21 provides OACE (Open Architecture Computing Environment) Compliant Radar Displays. As a subcontractor to Northrop-Grumman, Dot21 developed two radar displays for the Naval Surface Warfare Center. The advanced technology Dot21 used in these new displays for the AN/SPS-48E Radar provided the Navy with three immediate benefits:
When the US Navy decided to deploy this display using a ruggedized Windows computer instead of a VME processor board running Linux, Dot21 simply re-installed the software. The display is written in pure Java, so there was no porting involved. In fact, many of our developers actually work on the display on Windows computers.
This radar display is based on OpenMap, an open-source JavaBeans-based mapping toolkit. Since we used OpenMap for many of the basic mapping and display capabilities, Dot21 could concentrate our efforts on adding features to the display instead of just implementing basic functionality. |
