Columbia, MD (February 5, 2002) Dot21 Real-Time Systems, a leading provider
of real-time publish/subscribe middleware for the military and embedded applications,
announced today the availability of its products and services through the Government
Services Administration (GSA) Schedule under contract #GS-35F-0197M. This qualification
now makes Dot21 services easily available to all federal, state and local government
agencies including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Defense, and NASA.
Dot21 helps application developers reduce product development cycles by providing
tools that enable embedded systems programmers to bypass lower level programming
tasks. With less time spent on basic programming, developers can focus on strategic
application development -- that means shorter development schedules, faster product
delivery, and ultimately greater satisfaction for the end-user.
Dot21’s middleware is an enhanced version of the message-oriented middleware
currently used in Navy programs such as Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC),
SPS-48E Auxiliary Detection Processor (ADP), and Ship Self-Defense (SSDS). Dot21’s
message-oriented middleware reduces time to market for systems utilizing inter-processor
communications by providing a solution that works across various interconnect
technologies such as Ethernet, VMEbus, etc. and which can easily be ported to
new platforms. Dot21’s middleware reduces software development costs by employing
a publish-subscribe paradigm that decouples distributed applications thereby simplifying
system design. Time synchronization between platforms is yet another unique feature
that the middleware provides which is often a critical requirement for complex
real-time systems.
Dot21’s suite of analysis tools work in conjunction with the middleware to
further reduce the effort associated with integrating large, complex systems.
Data recorded during system operation can easily be filtered (based on numerous
graphically specified criteria), plotted, formatted for display, and replayed
to give the developer insight into system operation. For Radar applications, a
special "PowerTool" is available to allow visual filtering of data using a PPI
type display. Dot21’s customers don’t spend valuable time developing custom software
to analyze their data!
Dot21 also provides complete solutions to its customers including real-time
system design and analysis, software design, Java™display technology, device drivers,
and embedded board support packages. "Our engineers have an average of 15 years
experience in the software industry," says John Strong, Dot21’s Director of Engineering.
"Whether our customer needs a device driver or a Java™ display, we have what it
takes to get the job done", says Strong.
About Dot 21 Real-Time Systems Dot21 Real-Time Systems, Inc. (Dot21) specializes
in software for real-time and embedded systems. Dot21 was launched in May 1999
as a spin-off of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL)
in Laurel, MD, to commercialize the message-oriented middleware used in several
Navy programs including Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC), Ship Self-Defense
(SSDS), and the SPS-48 ADP. Dot21 is located in the Howard County Neotech Incubator
in Columbia, MD, midway between Baltimore and Washington D.C. For more information
